ECWM Compost increases soil fertility by adding nutrients such as N, P and K, thus substituting chemical fertilizers. ECWM composting process also increases plant health and it is free from  weed seeds, nematodes and pathogenic microbes.

Besides, the addition of compost to soil and the associated increase in soil organic matter (SOM) have been associated with many positive effects such as improved soil structure, increased water holding capacity and infiltration, increased workability and reduced erosion.
